Golf is fun. Driving ranges are fun. Long-tossing empty kegs on a driving range surrounded by Maxim Caddies is even more fun.

Jeremy got his hands on a couple passes to the regional Coors Light/Maxim Golf Experience here in London. We weren’t quite sure what to expect. We knew ahead of time they’d be giving away at least one grand prize (all-expenses paid trip to BC for golf, beer, and parties). We decided ahead of time we’d throw together some ridiculous golf outfits just in case they gave one away for best dressed.

Unfortunately there didn’t end up being a prize for that. Pity – we would’ve won that for sure.

They had a few “holes” set up around the golf club that included shooting on a goalie with golf balls, driving at a giant blown-up can of coors light at the driving range, a closest-to-the-pin golf simulator contest, tossing empty kegs as far as you can and a few others. Oh, there was also a BBQ and free beer. And Maxim Caddies.

Yeah, we’re kind of big deals.

Anyway we’re having a good time there and then start the draw for the grand prize trip. They did it by pulling 10 names from all the ballots. Those 10 guys got to go on stage and were given a little silver container, one of which would be the winning trip (the rest were free six-packs). Jeremy was the last one called on stage.

Damn right he was! We had a 1 in 10 chance of winning a trip to BC baby! Unfortunately it was not to be, and we had to settle for a free six-pack. Bah-humbug!

It was definitely a fun way to spend a Thursday night. One of these days we’ll make it to the big show. Here are a few other pics from the day (all of them are up on Facebook):

The caddies who drew duties at the outdoor events were troopers. It was a chilly night and every one of them was freezing out there. I’m guessing they’re not allowed to cover up. Luckily, the party was moved all in doors around 11 or so.

I’m considering wearing that outfit to actually go golfing. This was me trying to ping the giant blowup coors light can that was about 150 yards out. I missed.

I think this is how golfing should always be

Jeremy on the golf simulator. We both got decent shots. Mine was 14 ft from the pin. The eventual winner (who got a golf bag) was 4 ft away.

I don’t think I’ll be making a Maxim cover anytime soon.

I went back to Whitby for the weekend and had a great time. I actually can’t believe how much I got in over the weekend.

My travel from London to Toronto went as smooth as I could’ve hoped for. My bus from London actually left a little early and didn’t run into any significant traffic. I got dropped off at The Royal York at 6:00 which left me the perfect amount of time to catch the 6:13 train into Whitby.

Once I got home, I dropped off my bags and went out to dinner and a movie with Jenn. We went to East Side Mario’s for dinner, but both just got a small sandwich because we weren’t really that hungry. We actually tried going to the movie first but none were playing for another hour plus, so we went to dinner first.

We ended up seeing The Bourne Ultimatum. It was pretty good, as were all the other Bourne movies.

Saturday morning I went golfing with my Dad, Ben and Gabe. I played one of my better games in a while. I shot +10 over 9 holes. I usually aim for bogey golf, so thats close. I should have shot about +5 but I three-putted every green. I was hitting well, but I couldn’t putt for my life.

After the golf game I joined Maari and Jenn at Jenn’s place to hang around by the pool and have a few drinks. The plan was to go out that night for Maari’s birthday (which was actually on Monday). Kiron joined us a little later (he is recently back from a couple months in Greece) and then the rest of the crew showed up just before we headed out to the bars. Oh, and by we headed out the bars I really mean everyone else headed out to the bars while I slept like a baby in the car. Yeah.

The next morning we went out for breakfast at T&Ds and then proceeded to hang around Jenn’s pool for another few hours. After Kiron and Maari went home for the evening Jenn and I hung out and just vegged; we watched some TV and movies.

The plan for later that night was that Kiron, Steve and myself were going to head up to the local Indian casino and play some poker. Kiron got back from his family thing around 10 and we headed up.

We all got seated around 11:00 and managed to get at the same table shortly after that. Steve started off taking some tough losses early on. Kiron and I both started taking down a few good sized pots. We were both up about $200/250 (we all sat with $200). The play at the table was terrible and unfortunately people were sucking out a lot. One guy called a raise in middle position with 2c-7c and then chased his club flush calling raises all the way to the river where it hit, and he took down the pot. He made a similar call and then chase about 10 hands later 3c-5c and hit it again.

Anyway, by the end of the night Steve had busted out due to horrendous luck and people like the guy above sucking out on him. Kiron left being up a grand total $15, but refused to leave the casino with just that. He sat at a blackjack table and doubled through the first hand and then lost the second hand; he finished dead even on the night.

I was the “big” winner. I left up $22 at the end of the night, which is really disappointing considering I was up $200 3 hours earlier. Ah well, it was nice to play in person and with Steve and Kiron at the table its always fun.

The next day I went to the Jays/Yankees game with Tom. We had amazing seats (6 rows behind the Yankee’s dugout and the game was a pretty good one. The Jays ended up losing by one run. It was really hot being in the sun the whole time, but it made sleeping on the train on the way back all that much easier.

All in all I managed to get in dinner and a movie, lots of pool time, golf, a casino trip and a Jays game in the long weekend. I could’ve gone for fitting in another round of golf – something to shoot for next time I suppose.

This weekend myself, Maggie, Rupa, and Matt were planning to get together and head to Fallsview on Friday night and then to a beach for Saturday.

I wasn’t sure if I was going to make it because I was pretty sick the night before and early on Friday. Thankfully, it passed by the time we were supposed to go. We left London around 6ish and met up with Matt at his place in Mississauga. After popping into one of his friend’s birthday parties we were off on our way to Fallsview.

It took us a little longer then anticipated to get there because of construction. For some reason they narrowed it down to only the right hand lane open only to shift us all over to the left two lanes. You figure it out.

Anyway, when we got there it was packed. I quickly put my name down for a few of the poker tables. Rupa also put her name down for the 2-5 Limit table. I had been giving her a crash course in poker most of the week and she was pretty nervous about playing in the casino for the first time. Unfortunately, there was only one 2-5 limit table running and there was a 23 person wait. I was pretty confident we wouldn’t get to sit there tonight.

Once our names were in we started walking around. It was my first time at Fallsview (last time we went to Niagara). After walking around and checking out what was available it was decided that someone should do some gambling at some point. I only play poker (and occasionally low-limit blackjack) so I was content with watching others until my name was called in the poker pit. Matt also wanted to play blackjack, but because it was a Friday night he was out of luck for getting a seat at the one $10 table they had. The rest were $15+.

Maggie and Rupa played the slots for a bit while myself, Matt, and Eric (Matt’s buddy who joined us) went to the bar for a cold tall glass of medicine. After trying to figure out where they were in the maze of slots for a while we gave up. They eventually found us when I went back to check where I was on the list for the poker tables. Unfortunately the ladies were jackpot-free. Rupa was down $40 and I think Maggie lost $20. The good news was that I had a seat a $1-2 NL table. So I took my $200 and sat down.

A little while later Rupa’s name was up for the $2-5 Limit table. She motioned to me to see if I could join her, but I was enjoying my table and had a read on a few of the players so I decided to stay. I didn’t think Rupa was going to play without me because its a pretty intimidating experience the first time. I was wrong, and she did sit down.

By now it was just after midnight. Matt, Maggie, and Eric were good gambling buddies because they were pretty patient with us while we spent ~2 hours in the poker pit. I kept looking over to Rupa to see how she was doing and although she looked nervous she said she was doing well.

Just before 2:00am Rupa came up to me with a tray 1/2 full of $5 chips. I asked her how she did (I had no idea how much she started with). She said her hands were shaking so much, but that she sat down with $30. She left with ~$120. Way to go Rupa!

I sat down with $200 and left shortly after Rupa (I waited for the blinds to get around to me). I left up about $80. When I got outside the poker pit where everyone else was waiting I found out that Matt had also won about $110 playing Roulette (he never did get a seat at the blackjack table). So all in all, thats a damn fine casino night.

We went back and crashed at Matt’s house for the night. For those who haven’t had the honor of experiencing the legendary hospitality from Matt’s Mom and Dad (pictured right, stolen from their Florida pics) I would highly recommend weaseling your way into an invite to Matt’s place.

When we got back to the house there were two beds all nicely set up for us to use. In the morning there was a huge feast for breakfast including bacon, eggs, bagels, croissants, fruit with dip and yogurt with fruit and granola. Yeah, we had it pretty rough but we fought through it and persevered. We’re tough like that.

Unfortunately it was kind of a crappy day so the beach idea was kiboshed. We ended up staying in and playing Scene it? which was quite fun. I can’t remember if Matt or Rupa won (all three of us were on the final spot for a while) but the moral of the story is that Maggie got destroyed.

After that we went to see Transformers. Boner. The movie had the most incredible action scenes ever. I can’t wait to see it again. If you haven’t seen it – go see it. Even all the ladies I’ve talked to who have seen it said they loved it. I really can’t say much about the movie other then to go see it for yourself. Damn it was good. Side game: how many times did I just use the words “see it” or “seen it”?

We went back to Matt’s house where we were treated to the dinner version of the breakfast feast. So good! We then hung out in the basement playing a bit of Mario Party for the Wii. That system really is incredible. It’s nice to have video games that you can play with friends (male and female) that everyone enjoys.

Once that was done we played a little game of poker between the four of us before heading out to Failte’s for some drinks. We were really fortunate because they had a great live band playing that night called Sonic Playground. They played a mix of songs and were really high energy. It looks like they play regularly at the Fox & Fiddle in Toronto, so if you ever get a chance to go see them I’d recommend it.

Sunday morning came and we all got up to go see Matt win his soccer game. It’s their second win in a row. It’s also the second weekend in a row he’s had friends from London down (Jenn and Kailyn were down last weekend). Coincidence? I think not.

Once they were done laying the smacketh down we went back to his place for our last feast of the weekend. BBQ burgers and hot dogs with veggie dip, fruit dip, and so many condiment options I’m pretty sure some of them were made up.

After that we said our good-byes and hit the ol’ dusty trail. I’d like to thank Matt’s parents again for having us and making us feel so welcome. I’d also like to congratulate anyone who managed to read this entire post. IOU a gold star.

Last night I finally made it to my first music class of the year. I can’t believe I get a credit for this course, but I’ll take it. Yesterday we covered the Beatles and The Beach Boys along with some earlier stuff. It’s an interesting class.

I got home, downloaded Limewire, and started going through the slides getting all the songs that he quoted in there. I got through about half of them but then had to stop. It was about 11:30 and Chuck shows up at my place, and by show up I mean stomps down the stairs, falls into the door and then proceeds to knock very slowly. I get up out of my amazingly comfortable lazy boy and open the door.

He comes in, takes off his shoes and begins to try to tell me something. He’s so cold and tired (apparently he ran from Barking Frog to my place) that he only spoke in one-word sentences. “Cold” “Kicked out” “Barking Frog” “Alex’s friend” “too drunk”. It was funny.

“Have you been drinking?” I ask Chuck

“No!” he replies, obviously insulted by the question but at the same time reeking of booze. “I also don’t smoke!”.

“Chuck, were you smoking tonight too?” I asked after he gave up the information out of nowhere.

“Don’t tell my parents… they don’t think I do either!” he says half-laughing and half-concerned. Then he mumbles something about how I never realized he had a Hello Kitty bedspread. I informed him that I don’t spend much time looking at my roommate’s linens. On top of that, why does any man have a Hello Kitty bedspread?

At this point I ask where Alex and his friends went. An innocent question I thought.

“I have rights to this place!” Chuck angrily informs me as if I had intentions of kicking him out. After feeling better about asserting his rights to our place he gets up off the couch and marches toward his old room. I thought he was going to stake claim to his room to emphasize the point that he “still has rights to this place”. That was until he turned and went into the bathroom. He then threw up quickly and came back out.

“Feel better?” I asked.

“I didn’t throw up” he stated, clearly lying.

“Uh-huh” I said.

“I still have rights to this place! I pay rent!” he exclaims out of nowhere. “I have rights to this couch!” Again, I assure him that I have no intentions of sending him out into the cold.

At this point I give Alex a call to find out where he is so Chuck can have a bed to sleep on. He picks up, and proceeds to tell me the same story I heard from Chuck not 3 minutes earlier. He then tells me that they’re at The Keg and that we should come immediately. I told him I wasn’t coming out but that I’d pass the message onto Chuck.

So after hanging up I tell Chuck where they are. Naturally, he doesn’t believe me for a second. I give him my phone and he calls Alex back. I put it on speaker before giving it to him so I could hear Alex’s side of the conversation too. Alex was reasonably sober at this point.

Alex tells Chuck to come to The Keg. Chuck makes Alex promise that if he runs there that they have to be there. Not a problem, they’re just about to order. Chuck then makes Alex promise again, and he does. This cycle continues like seven more times until Alex gets frustrated and I take the phone from Chuck. The conversation ends with Alex telling us that he’s just ordered both of us a steak and that we need to come to The Keg immediately.

I hang up and assure Chuck that Alex is at The Keg and that if he goes Alex will be there. After informing me again that he has rights to our place I finally convince Chuck that Alex and his buddies will be there. As Chuck is getting ready to leave, I get a call from Alex.

“Yo, you guys coming or what?” he asks.

“Chuck is on his way, but I’m heading to bed” I said. At this point I was pretty confident that Alex was just saying he ordered steaks to get us there.

“You need to come too, I ordered you guys steaks!” he says. I’m still not convinced, but I agreed to meet them there for a bit. This also put Chuck’s mind at ease that I wasn’t going to lock him out of the place that “he had rights to” in case Alex wasn’t really there.

So its now just before midnight and I’m suiting up to hike through the cold with Chuck to go meet Alex and his buddies at The Keg. On the way there Chuck points out various spots including where he stood in the cold waiting for the bouncer to bring him his jacket after they got kicked out. He tells me that while he waited he talked to a cop that told him he was going to freeze if he waited much longer. Chuck then informed the cop how manly he was and that his jacket was on the way.

It was a female bouncer grabbing his jacket. Chuck said that “she’s scary, but I’d do her”. I ask why she’s scary. He tells me that its because she’s trained to kick ass, but at the same time he’s also pretty confident he could take her. He then reassures me about how violent he can be when he drinks and reiterates that he’d do the bouncer even though she’s scary.

We cross the street around where Taster’s Burger/Tim Horton’s is and for some reason Chuck feels the need to run the rest of the way. In his excitement he completely over-shoots where The Keg is and almost runs right into Molly Bloom’s. I could’ve stopped him but it was too funny and I wanted to see how far he’d run before realizing he missed the turn.

Once we got into the Keg we joined Alex’s buddies Matt and Ryan. Ryan was exhausted from the drive (they came from Winnipeg) and Matt was doing everything he could to not pass out from too much boozing. It turned out Alex really did order us steaks, along with a bottle of champagne for the table – what a classy guy.

We ate the delicious steaks while trying to keep Matt from breaking things on the table. After chatting and laughing for a bit they all headed back to Alex and Chuck’s place to get there in time for the booty call Alex got while we were eating.

I hiked home and went to bed. It was certainly a more exciting night then I had planned for myself. Way to go Drunkleberry Finn

Although the Christmas break went by rather quickly, it was a good one. After finally putting an end to my drink-a-thon I followed Spirit of the West’s advice and headed home for a rest.

My Mom and SisterAfter spending the first couple nights at my Dad’s place (and most of that was spent wresting with my dog Cosmo… I won) I headed into my Grandma’s place in Toronto. It was my Mom’s year to have us, but instead of us head out to Calgary her and Jen decided to come out our way this year. They arrived Christmas eve, so after catching up on everyone’s lives we went to bed and waited for Santa arrive in the morning.

After being unwillingly awoken from my slumber by my sister and then immediately forced to open my stocking I tried to take a nap while everyone got moving. That didn’t last long either, as my sister and grandma were quick to wake me from that too.

The tradition with our family is that before breakfast we open the gifts from Santa, then we eat breakfast, then we open gifts from our immediate family. Then, I go back to bed and sleep more before the rest of the family gets together for Christmas dinner and more present exchanges. On the right is Cory, Jen, and myself sporting our presents from Santa. I got a nice Maple Leaf wind breaker.

My mom got my grandma some sort of special soap that she can’t in Ontario. She was thrilled.

Grandma thrilled

Grandma protecting her soap

Then the rest of the family arrived, we exchanged gifts, and had dinner. There was enough of us that we needed two tables.

The adult table
The kids table

The dinner was delicious as always. I mean come on, its Grandma. No matter who it is, anyone who has grandkids instantly becomes a gourmet chef. It baffles scientists to this very day.

On boxing day we went back to Whitby to have Christmas with Dad’s side of the family. Here we are in all our glory.

Dinner there was just as delicious, and it was nice to see everyone again. The time inbetween Christmas dinners and New Years wasn’t too eventful. I avoided boxing day shopping (well, mostly save 45 minutes or so).

The night of the 30th I went to Boston Pizza with a bunch of friends from home and watched UFC 66 (cool website too). For those who didn’t see it, the main event was Liddell vs Ortiz with Liddell coming out on top with his devastating punches. Hopefully that’ll shut Ortiz up for at least a couple months. This also sets up a future match with Liddell facing Quinton “Rampage” Jackson. That should be amazing.

New Years Eve was spent at Dave’s place in Toronto as a bit of a classier affair. Nothing too exciting to report, but it was a good time. Here are a few of my favourite pics:

Dave provding Kiron the view of a lifetime

Yesterday was a fairly busy day for me. Worked until 5 or so, came home and had some delicious spaghetti before watching Van Wilder (great movie) with Bev, Rob, and Chuck. After getting comfortably into my PJs I got a call from Mila around 10:30 saying that a few others from Software were heading out to Call the Office for the night; so I got changed and headed down the street to Mila’s for a pre-drink.

Part of the night’s festivities including straightening Cory’s hair. For those who don’t know Cory, he’s usually sporting long wavy hair like a hippy. Somehow he got roped into letting the ladies straighten his hair.

Hot Damn! Slap a nice skirt on him and he’d have his pick of the litter at the bar!

I think Steph aprroves too

Call the Office was a blast. It was funk night, so that helped too. We met one guy who did a bit of magic for us, he was really good. I have no idea how he did the stuff he did.

Writing his website on a card that he got us to sign and then kept pulling out of the deck like a wizard. I forget what the site was.

We danced it up for a bit… especially Vicky – she’s a dance machine (although still going down in the dance-off we’re having in Montreal).

The hair working its magic

How the ladies had the will power not to jump us on the spot I will never know

The hair just keeps giving…

Towards the end of the night some of the guys at the bar started break dancing. They were all pretty good so it was a pretty entertaining way to end the bar portion of the night.

When the bar closed we went to Prince Albert’s and got Wally Burgers (burgers with bacon and peanut butter). It was my first time trying one, and it was alright. It wasn’t amazing and it wasn’t disgusting… although I likely won’t be ordering another.

After the delicious burgers we called it a night and all headed home. He are some of the other pics that I liked.

I promise this was not photoshopped. Vicky is coming out of Eric

The whole crew

This was an event we had planned about a month in advance, and so we were all pretty excited for the night.

Everyone got dressed up and was looking sexy.

Alex looking as suave as ever
Blake, Amanda and Caitlin… also looking sexy
Dinner at Bertoldi’s was delicious as always. I had the special for the day, which I can’t recall the name of but was some kind of chicken that tasted delicious. After our delicious meal, it was off to the theatre.

The show was well done and had a very in depth set. There were some extra songs added in that the Beast sang and although he had a good voice, they were somewhat boring. Other then that the performances were quite funny and well choreographed (in my expert opinion).

After the show finished most of us headed to 29 Park night club while others went home so they could get to work the next day. I think it was everyone’s first time to that particular bar. It’s a classier place then we usually go to, but we wanted something like that because we were already looking so damn sexy from the play.

All in all it was an epic night, and I wish I had more pictures to share but I think most people were too busy drinking and dancing to bother to take pictures.

Chuck especially had his dancing shoes and was “Doing the Caitlin” all night long… what a champ.

Alex had a report going with the bartender and had quite a few newly invented shots that night. He also evolved into what we call Alex ver 3.0 with his suave handling of a couple of the ladies at the bar that night. Alex ver 1.0 basically entailed chasing the ladies down with a net and trapping them. Ver 2.0 involved animal noises, some one-liners, and rather untempting offers of what lay back at his apartment if they would only go home with him. Lets hope that ver. 3.0 is here to stay.

Caitlin, Kailyn, Jenn, Rupa, Amanda, and Kaley were all dancing the night away as long as their shoes would let them. Caitlin was caught trying to drink water pretty early in the night, and so that resulted in some shots of old man Jack Daniel’s for her. Don’t let us catch you drinking water until the bar closes.

Matt brought his full-out Mississauga dance moves to the floor and disappointed no one, and still found the time to occasionally wing-man for Alex.

Jay, Amy, Wes, Sarah and Blake were also out and took to the dance floor throughout the night.

One of the things that was good about 29 Park is that the dance floor was large and the bar wasn’t crowded, so dancing didn’t feel like being in a clothes-on orgy which was nice. They also brought out delicious turkey and roast beef sandwiches throughout the night (on the house) – something all the guys took full advantage of.

When the bar closed, we were also provided water bottles on the house as we left – another nice touch. I went home in a cab with the girls from Jenn’s house (which we had to walk to Albert’s Diner to catch). Alex went to his place, and Jay and Amy headed back to Amy’s place.

Wes, Chuck, and Matt got lost thanks to Wes’ amazing stumbling leadership. The bar was on Talbot, and they were all heading back to our place on Central. Here’s the route they should’ve taken.

And now an educated guess on the route they actually took.

The red line is obviously their path. The blue circle is the drunken phone call I got from chuck that went something like this:

C: Ryan! Where am I? I have no idea where I am! I’m at a red light?

R: What?

C: The light is red! And I don’t know where I am!

R: Is there a street sign around?

C: No, just the red light. Oh… wait… yeah it says… Colborne St.

R: How the hell did you end up at Colborne St? Never mind, it doesn’t matter. Is anyone else with you?

C: Yeah, Matt and Wes.

R: Good, stick together. I’m going to bed.

The brown circle indicates an educated guess as to where Wes decided to jump on a pile of bagged leaves and then ninja-roll off them for no apparent reason. He woke up the next day with scratches all over.

Eventually, they got back to Central avenue but north of Richmond. Chuck refused to believe Matt when he was told that this was his street. Once he got to Richmond and recognized where he was they all sprinted toward our place to pass out for the night. Way to go champs.

The next day brought with it a rough ball hockey game to say the least. It was worth it though.

Thanks to everyone who came out.

Last Friday my lovely girlfriend Jenn (just to differentiate between all my lovely ladies) took me out to dinner and a movie. We went to Jack Astor’s for dinner and I had what was quite possibly the most delicious meal I’ve ever had at a place like that. I got butter brushed steak (done to perfection) along with a one-pound baked potato (with the works on it), and vegetables. De-li-cious!

After the movie we went to a very busy Famous Players (Casino Royale was just released the same day) and saw Happy Feet. The movie was very entertaining, and definately fun. I highly recommend it when your in the mood for something fun to watch. If you’re not a big TV person, here’s a good trailer to give you a taste:

After the movie, we ended up going out to Demetre’s for some delicious and fattening ice cream with Rob, Bev, Chuck, and Rupa. It was, as always, delicious. Thanks for the wonderful night Jenn!

The next morning marked the beginning of the best day of any week: Saturday. Not only can you sleep in and stay out late with no guilt, but it usually brings with it two important features… ball hockey and booze.

This week’s ball hockey game was the early one, 10:00am start. Normally this would be devastating, but surprisingly our entire team stayed sober the night before. I guess there’s a first time for everything. The game was mighty fun, even though Chuck abandoned his team faster than you can say “Aki Berg”. At least he didn’t score.

Later that night we had Wes, Alex, and Reed over to our place for the Leaf game before the festivities for the night. The Leafs lost 2-1 to Boston, but were able to salvage a point out of the game by forcing overtime. Any game where we have Tellqvist playing net and we salvage a point is a good one in my books.

Once the game finished Alex, Wes, and Reed headed out to the Ceeps. Rob, Chuck, and myself swung by Maggie’s place and then headed out to a Pirate party at one of Maggie’s friend’s places.

We didn’t have pirate costumed, although I was assured by Maggie that not many people would and that we’d be fine. When we arrived, we were the only ones without pirate costumes… thanks Maggie! Luckily I was able to scrounge one up out of pieces of other people’s costumes (mostly Kat’s) by the end of the night. The party was fun, and was complete with pirate porn on the TV (which Maggie informed us several times throughout the night was the most expensive porn ever made… thanks for that tid-bit).

After the party died down, Wes, Chuck, Maggie, and myself all walked Kat to her friend’s house and then headed on home (where more of Chuck’s filthy lies were confessed to).

The next day was mostly spent helping Maggie and Kat shoot a movie the needed for one of their classes. It was pretty uneventful, with the exception of us causing a small accident.

We were filming outside, and when some chick tried to yell our of her car to interrupt our movie she unwittingly veered into the middle of the road and plowed right into the divider by the stop sign at Maggie’s place; instantly flattening her tire and losing her hub cap. We got the audio of it on camera, but we were facing the wrong way to get the video. If I can get my hands on the audio from Maggie, I’ll post it here sometime later.

Shortly after the accident, Wes came by to help out as well. This resulted in myself having a hard time staying professional (read: mature). We eventually got through everything we needed to. I went over to Jenn’s for some delicious pizza and Top Gun (which is close to True Lies quality) and then I headed back home to get some work done.

Naturally, the work did not get done and I just played guitar hero until I went to bed.

On a sidenote, I finally got word that my police check came back and so I should be starting at my job shortly.

Last Friday Maggie, Bev, Wes, Rob, Chuck, and myself were all planning to go see True Lies showing as the midnight cult classic at Western Films. It’s usually a bad idea to go to the cult classic without at least a bit of booze in your system, so naturally we had a few drinks before hand. I picked up some of the new mint baileys and gave their suggested drink mix a try – it was delicious.

You mix a cup of ice, two ounces baileys, one ounce milk, a scoop of ice cream and blend it all together. You’re then supposed to garnish with mint chocolate shavings, but I skipped that part. The result was a delicious milkshake-like drink. Pretty tasty, and made a nice starting drink/dessert to dinner. However, I had to move onto beer after that.

Bev ended up feeling under the weather, and so Rob walked her home like the gentleman he is. He was going to meet us at the movies still, but never ended up showing (I think the sickness was a hoax, and the real truth is that Bev just can’t keep her filthy paws off my sexy roommate).

So anyhoo, that left Maggie, Wes, Chuck, and myself. We grabbed a bus to campus, got some popcorn, and settled in for the most glorious move of all time. I know I could not do Arnie or Tom Arnold justice by writing about all the gloriousness of this movie, so I won’t. What I will say is that the movie never has a down point. It only gets better. Right up to the amazing finally it is single-handedly the greatest movie ever made. If only Arnie was in March of the Penguins it might have been tolerable.

Saturday was Jenn’s birthday celebration. She’s now closer to death then ever, and has started pulling muscles and asking for a walker for Christmas. The ladies of 50 Victoria had everyone over to their place for a pre-drink. Maari, Lindsey, and Jess also made the trip down from TO to celebrate with us; it was nice to see them again. It was a good time at 50 Vic, highlighted by the fact that the mighty blue and white crushed their silly french opponents 5-1. GO LEAFS GO!

We went to the Ceeps for the night, which was a good time, and then Tenenbaums after for some amazing burgers. Tenenbaums is quite comparable to Starr Burger from back home for those of you who have had the pleasure of eating burgers from that joint. There was no stand-out stories to tell from that night, so I’ll let a few select pictures do the talking.
